Betsy Douds-Paczan, PA-C

Ms. Douds graduated from the University of Washington’s MEDEX Physician Assistant program. She is a board member for the Alaska Academy of Physician Assistants.

Before becoming a physician assistant, Ms. Douds spent several years working in home health care with people who are quadriplegic. She has travelled extensively and worked on projects in third world countries including volunteering at Mother Teresa’s Home for the Dying Destitute in India. These experiences have fueled her passion for preventative health through mental health, stress reduction, healthy diet and exercise.

She has a background in theatre and the arts and is an Artist-in-Residence for the Alaska State Counsel on the Arts. As such, Ms. Douds has taught film and theater programs to at-risk youth in the Anchorage community and has done programs at McLaughlin Youth Center, the Hiland Mountain Correctional Center and at schools within the Anchorage School District. Her project with pregnant and parenting teens in Anchorage won the Center for Community Engagement and Learning Project Award in 2012.

At Northwest Medical, Ms. Douds works closely with Dr. JC Cates. PA Douds diagnoses, treats and manages acute illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions. She enjoys caring for families at all stages of life including the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of women and children.
